Show Racism the Red Card

 

As a school we have been very proud of our relationship with the Show Racism the Red Card organisation.

In the past few years  our school has won the national competition and came runner-up last year.

This is a massive achievement and we are really proud of this.

We attended a Show Racism the Red Card event at Wrexham Racecourse and took part in a variety of activities.

Ex-footballers like Lee Jones and Christian Roberts were on hand throughout the day to offer their personal insights into professional sport and how they dealt with racism.

The children were all enthused and excited to be involved and asked and answered some excellent, mature questions.

They were rewarded with a question and answer session from four Wrexham football players.

The players rounded the afternoon with an autograph signing session.Even Mr Roberts was asked to sign autographs by children from other schools!!!!!

 

 

 

This year we decided to enter the dvd/media category. We scripted , filmed, acted and edited a fantastic film about tackling issues od racism in a school environment.

We were so proud that our film won the category. We were invited down to the winners cerermony at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff where we were presented with our prize. We have been given the chance to watch a Wrexham game and be mascots for the day, which will be a tremendous experience for the class.

We also had a special suprise as we were awarded the overall NATIONAL award. This was a fantastic achievement as there were over 5000 entries from across Wales. As our prize we have been given a signed/framed Welsh football shirt, a laptop for the class and the chance to watch a Wales training session in Cardiff.

We are all very proud of our efforts and achievements.
